The college first came into existence as Kanohar Lal Kanya junior High School in July" before 1968. At that time there was no school for girls in village Sonda and in nearby 10 to 12 villages. Committed to the cause of girls' education Seth Kanohar Lal established this school on 8000 sq. yards land with the help of Gram Panchayat, Sonda. A large building was constructed and Seth Kanohar Lal shouldered its entire financial and administrative responsibilities.
This Junior High School was given recognition by U.P.Government for High School classes in 1974 and Inter classes commenced under self-finance scheme from the year 1987. In due course of time the Parent body: Kanohar Lal trust Society, changed the name of the school after the names of the founder's parents as per founder's wish. Now it is known as Chameli Devi Durga Prasad Smarak Kanya Inter College, where around 800 students of several neighboring villages are receiving education from VI grade upto Intermediate standard....
